Why use QUANTIS® in potatoes?

Potatoes face two critical challenges: natural stress during tuber initiation and heat stress sensitivity. During tuber initiation, the plant undergoes significant physiological changes as it shifts from vegetative growth to tuber formation - a naturally stressful period. Additionally, potatoes show vulnerability to heat stress at temperatures as low as 20-25°C, when photosynthetic activity begins to shut down. This combined stress can severely impact tuber formation, leading to both reduced tuber numbers and smaller size, directly affecting your final yield.

How QUANTIS® protects your potato crop:

QUANTIS® serves a dual purpose, it supports the crop through the natural stress of tuber initiation while also activating the plant's defence mechanisms against heat stress. By helping the crop navigate the critical tuber initiation phase, QUANTIS® allows the plant to set its optimum number of tubers. Additionally, it ensures continued photosynthesis even under challenging temperature conditions, protecting both tuber formation and development stages.

How Quantis works

Key benefits of QUANTIS® include:

  • Supports crop through natural tuber initiation stress

  • Helps establish optimal tuber numbers

  • Maintains photosynthetic activity at elevated temperatures

  • Protects tuber formation process

  • Helps maintain tuber size and number

  • Supports continuous growth during stress periods

Potato field trials, analysed by ADAS, showed QUANTIS® significantly increased yield in fields under heat stress.

Crops treated with QUANTIS® at heat stress timings (indicated by the Spray Assist app) and after tuber initiation, showed a significantly higher yield, with over 6.1 t/ha more than untreated.

Where applications were routinely put on with blight sprays, yields increased by over 2.2 t/ha versus untreated.

The science behind these yield benefits was validated by University of Nottingham researchers.

Applying QUANTIS® at tuber initiation is crucial

Trials show that applying QUANTIS® at tuber initiation allows the plant to develop optimum tuber numbers. Subsequent applications at heat events during bulking maintains the transfer of resources from the leaves to the developing tubers, leading to an increase in both overall and marketable yield.
