Setting the Rhythm for Healthy Pulses

ELATUS® Era provides exceptional control of rust and chocolate spot in both winter and spring beans. Now available with AMISTAR®, to effectively control downy mildew, it’s the perfect partner for your main disease control timings.

ELATUS Era

The trusted solution to bean rust and chocolate spot

Bean rust

Caused by the fungus Uromyces viciae-fabae, bean rust spreads well in warm, dry weather. Orange/brown pustules develop on leaves which can cause defoliation, leading to significant yield loss if this is before pod fill.

Chocolate spot

Caused by Botrytis fabae or Botrytis cinerea, chocolate spot begins as small brown spots on the leaves that merge into larger lesions. The disease thrives in wet spring conditions, with fungal spores dispersed by rain splash. Severe infection can result in yield loses of up to 50%.

AMISTAR

Pulse protection perfected

AMISTAR® effectively combats all major bean diseases, including downy mildew, which manifests as pale patches on leaves and a greyish mauve fluffy growth beneath. This disease flourishes in cool, humid conditions and spreads via wind-borne spores and rain splash, potentially causing significant yield losses.

Downy mildew infection can start as early as April.

Trials data

When used together in a disease management programme, ELATUS® Era and AMISTAR® deliver outstanding disease control.
ELATUS® Era at first pod timing (T1) followed by AMISTAR® gives excellent control of both chocolate spot and rust.

Our data supports the use of higher rates where chocolate spot
pressure is high to ensure robust control.

PGRO trials data in 2023 illustrates how an additional application of AMISTAR® (T0) in winter beans provides early control of downy mildew and chocolate spot.

Spring beans

Winter beans

Usually only require 2 applications.

May require 3 applications.

ELATUS® Era at T1 (first pod) controls chocolate spot and ensures a clean lower canopy. Early control of rust prevents severe infection later.

AMISTAR® at T0 (early flowering) if downy mildew and chocolate spot are present.

AMISTAR® at T2 (21 to 28 days after T1) gives activity against all the major bean diseases, especially rust.

ELATUS® Era at T1 (first pod) will control chocolate spot and ensure a clean lower canopy.Early control of rust prevents severe infection later.

A pulse-pounding offer!

Strong, thriving crops are naturally more resistant to diseases and pests. That’s why we’re offering the ultimate disease control package! If disease pressure dictates the need for both, ELATUS® Era is now available to purchase with AMISTAR®. This dynamic duo offers:

✓ Versatile protection

Effective on both spring and winter bean varieties, ensuring year-round crop security.

✓ Complete disease coverage

ELATUS® Era tackles rust and chocolate spot with exceptional potency, while AMISTAR® delivers a knockout blow to downy mildew.

✓ Optimised timing

Perfect for your main disease control windows, maximising the impact of each application.

Our top tips for boosting your pulse potential!

You can achieve high-yielding, resilient crops that withstand environmental stresses and threats.
We recommend focussing on these 3 areas:

✓ Strategic sowing

Delay sowing until soil conditions improve for better emergence and root development; any slight yield reduction is often offset by improved soil conditions.

Balanced nutrition

Ensure proper macro and trace elements are provided. Apply sulphur, manganese, magnesium, and boron once adequate leaf cover is achieved.

Timely VIXERAN® application

Apply VIXERAN® during good leaf cover to boost crop health and productivity.

Application advice for fungicides

Use Syngenta's 3D Ninety nozzle, alternating forward and backward along the boom for improved coverage.
