Syngenta staff raise £3,000 donation for local good causes
Employees at Syngenta Huddersfield Manufacturing Centre, who are members of Unite the Union, were offered a small personal gift at Christmas through their Workplace Branch. The site Reps gave members an option to receive a gift voucher or to donate the cash equivalent to charity. A generous £1,500 was raised for three local good causes - Focus 4 Hope; Holme Valley Mountain Rescue and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Syngenta kindly agreed to match Unite’s donation and cheques were presented for £1,000 to each cause.
Syngenta Senior Unite Representative, Neil Thornton said “We gave our members a choice of a small gift or a donation to charity and we’re delighted to have raised £1,500 which has been matched by the company, to make a total donation of £3,000. Focus 4 Hope offer care, compassion and hope to vulnerable people; Holme Valley Mountain Rescue provide search and rescue services and The Yorkshire Air Ambulance service receive no funding from Government and all three good causes rely on donations to provide vital services to people in distress. We’re thankful to our members for their generosity and also to Syngenta for match funding.”
