Syngenta welcomes Broadening Horizons
At Syngenta Huddersfield, we were thrilled to welcome the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) to our Huddersfield site, along with its 2025 cohort of the Broadening Horizons scheme.
The Broadening Horizons scheme, created by the RSC, aims to address systemic barriers, by supporting students and graduates from marginalised racial and ethnic backgrounds to pursue careers in the chemical sciences.
Syngenta, along with other leading companies, has partnered with the RSC to offer access to mentoring, networking, and opportunities to gain industry experience.
As part of this, we hosted the ten students at our Huddersfield site for a one-day visit, where they were able to gain an insight into what we do at Syngenta and the range range of career routes possibilities we have available.
The students attended various sessions covering all different aspects of what we do here at Syngenta, including production and testing. After an introduction to the site, we took the students on a plant tour, enjoyed a networking lunch with our lab science degree apprentices and graduate chemists, and led tours of our analytical chemistry lab, and kilo lab.
We hope that all who attended enjoyed and gained something from the experience, and we would like to thank everyone who donated their time in order to make the site visit a success.
