Syngenta site to lease up to 20 acres
Syngenta is looking to release a 20-acre plot of land on its sprawling Huddersfield site to create a “sustainable manufacturing campus” which could support up to 300 new jobs. The Syngenta site, off Leeds Road, is 252 acres in total and employs around 500 people.
The chemicals manufacturer wants to bring more investment and jobs to Huddersfield while also boosting sustainability and reducing its own carbon footprint. A new campus could see a range of advanced manufacturing, life sciences and sustainability-focused businesses benefitting from Syngenta’s existing on-site infrastructure.
It is projected to have the potential to support 300 new jobs and boost the local economy by a further £45 million, in addition to the £140m GVA (Gross Value Add) that the site already contributes to the Kirklees economy.
The firm says it is looking to attract inward investors and businesses that can harness its specialist wastewater treatment and energy infrastructure, to support the transition to new, sustainable industries. This would mean companies other than Syngenta, investing in the site and establishing a base there.
