Syngenta

Syngenta represents women in manufacturing and engineering

We were extremely proud to have representatives from Syngenta Huddersfield in attendance at the launch of the Women in Manufacturing and Engineering Network in Leeds.

The initiative was presented to us by the team at the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, after they attended the opening of our advanced manufacturing plant for producing PLINAZOLIN® technology, which we recognised alongside our own International Women’s Day celebrations in March.

There was immediate interest from four of our colleagues here at Syngenta Huddersfield, two of whom, Julie Martyn and Julia Herrera, attended the network’s launch event. The network has garnered support from key figures including West Yorkshire Mayor, Tracy Brabin, and business secretary, Jonathan Reynolds MP.

The network seeks to empower women in the manufacturing and engineering industry, to drive inclusive growth, influence policy and inspire future talent in the region.

The network also aims to support women in these industries to advance into leadership positions, inspire the next generation, and nurture talent that sits on our doorstep, creating an accessible, supportive network of talented women progressing through the industry with no barriers.

This aligns with Syngenta’s aims to create an inclusive workplace, championing the women shaping the future of agriculture, and empowering our team throughout their career journeys.

Talking about the launch, Julie Martyn said, “It was a really good, engaging launch and having the backing of Jonathan Reynolds MP gave a real commitment to the purpose of the network. Along with other network partners, we have an opportunity to collaborate, influence policy and shape an inclusive workforce that brings balance to company leadership positions in the region.”

Whilst we recognise this is a march of progress, we understand that there is a long way to go and here at Syngenta Huddersfield we are proud to be supporting such a fantastic initiative for both the industry, and the wider region as a collective.
