Syngenta Employees made a generous donation to the Lawrence Batley Theatre’s Christmas Angels appeal through its Employees Community Gift, a fund where staff make donations from their salary which is matched by the company. Syngenta laid on free transport for schools through local coach company Stotts, an experienced operator in running transport operations for Kirklees schools.

The firm contacted 13 neighbouring primary schools and offered out 400 tickets to the pantomime Sleeping Beauty, showing at the Lawrence Batley Theatre throughout December until 5th January 2020. Schools who accepted invitations were: Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Primary School, Kirkheaton Primary School, Christ Church CE Academy, Netherhall Junior School, Netherhall St James Infant & Nursery School, Ashbrow School, Dalton Junior, Infants and Nursery School and Moldgreen Community Primary School.

Diane Schalge, Treasurer of the Syngenta Employees Community Gift, said: “We have a team of volunteers on our Community Engagement Team at Syngenta and for us, it was an easy decision to partner with the LBT for a third year. The production standards for the Christmas panto are very high and this year’s performance by stage and backroom staff is exceptional. In our day jobs, we are working hard towards meeting the challenges of modern agriculture in a sustainable way and our staff are very proud to be able to support our community in this way.”

Henry Filloux-Bennett, Chief Executive and Artist Director of the Lawrence Batley Theatre, said: “Our Christmas Angels appeal receives kind contributions from local businesses and patrons, which allows families and children to access the magic of theatre at Christmas, where otherwise, they may not normally be able to do so. The donation by the Syngenta Community Gift, matched by free transport is very generous.”
