Farming, what’s the big iDEA?

Syngenta

Syngenta is proud to announce that we will be launching the ‘Syngenta Farm Tech’ Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award (iDEA) badge at The Big Bang: Science and Engineering Fair 2019.

iDEA is the Duke of York’s international programme to help individuals develop digital, enterprise and employability skills. The programme consists of a series of online modules (badges) in the categories Citizen, Worker, Maker, Entrepreneur and Gamer. Badges equate to points which aggregate towards Bronze, Silver or Gold awards.  The Bronze award was launched in 2017 and has been a great success. More than 1 million Bronze badges have been completed by learners in over 100 countries. The Silver award was launched in 2018 and the Gold is set to be released this year.  iDEA is free to all and only needs access to the internet, making it an accessible online resource.

“iDEA hopes to play a crucial role in ensuring that people have the best possible opportunities to become economically active – to get jobs” HRH The Duke of York

The ‘Syngenta Farm Tech’ iDEA badge aims to encourage participants to think about the diverse range of careers and technologies involved in agriculture. The badge takes just under an hour to complete and is in the Citizen category.

Through a range of interactive games and quizzes, learners will engage in topics associated with the future of agriculture such as smart farming, the Sustainable Development Goals, the range of technology involved and ethical considerations. This diverse range of pertinent topics showcases the exciting opportunities within agriculture and encourages the learner to think about how we can sustainably feed a growing world population while addressing the challenges of climate change.
