Syngenta appoints new brassica crop specialist
Syngenta, has appointed Oliver Watts as Crop Specialist - Seeds for cauliflowers, borecole and Brussels sprouts.
A graduate of the vegetable industry renowned MDS scheme, Oliver (above) has worked on both the production and supply operations for some of the UK’s leading fresh produce growers and supply chain procurement businesses. In these roles he has developed an understanding the needs and the challenges throughout the chain, from growers, to the major retailers and consumers.
“Syngenta has an extremely well-proven product line of brassica varieties, along with the crop protection range to produce high yields of quality crops,” said Oliver Watts.
“I look forward to working with the company’s seed breeders, R&D scientists, technical specialists and agronomic support teams across the UK and Europe to bring effective total crop solutions to growers,” he added
Oliver’s experience, relationships and contacts throughout the food industry will prove a valuable resource for Syngenta brassica and cauliflower customers looking to expand and develop their businesses through the introduction of the company’s exciting new varieties and lines.
During his MDS experience, Oliver also worked for Syngenta business development and marketing in Cambridge and the eastern counties.
More recently, he has been a vegetable seeds specialist working with leading UK growers to demonstrate and develop new varieties and product lines, through to successful marketing to retail customers.
With a BA (Hons), and subsequent postgraduate certification in Food & Fresh Produce Management at Harper Adams University College, Oliver has also studied related practical courses in crop and soil management.
