Septoria in Gallant at the Oxford Innovation Centre

Location – Oxford Innovation Centre
Variety – Gallant
Date – 03.03.2016
Picture of Gallant with quite severe Septoria tritici infection. It is easily identifiable by the black pycnidia within the brown lesions.
Septoria is easy to find in the more susceptible varieties at the Oxford Innovation Centre. Gallant (pictured) is proving to be particularly prone. Due to mild temperatures this season the disease appears to have overwintered well and is present at high levels, especially in early drilled crops.
We will be employing a robust T0 fungicide, targeting final leaf four, with Cherokee at 1.0 l/ha to keep on top of this disease along with protecting the plant against other diseases such as yellow rust which is also present at the site.
