At the Syngenta Innovation Centre in Crockey Hill, near York, yellow rust is starting to kick into action on the untreated plots. However, the treated plots remain untouched by the disease.

Septoria is visible on untreated, susceptible varieties

Septoria is also visible on untreated, susceptible varieties, but it is not moving up the plant yet. However, the treated susceptible varieties are not showing signs of Septoria.

This sudden spread of yellow rust and Septoria in untreated plots is interesting to see

This sudden spread of yellow rust and Septoria in untreated plots is interesting to see, particularly as at T0 there was no sign of either disease.

Currently we are applying T2 fungicides across the site. Some plots are receiving a pre-planned programme, and some are receiving rates adapted to the variety, disease pressure and the weather. You can find out the results of this trial at one of our Innovation Centre open days this summer.
