Damage caused by the pea and bean weevil larvae eating the healthy pink root noodles of spring beans
Pests are causing damage to crops in Cambridgeshire

At our grower trial sites near Ely in Cambridgeshire, pests are making their mark. Pictured above is damage caused by the pea and bean weevil larvae eating the healthy pink root noodles of spring beans and below you can see large colonies of black bean aphids building up.

“Growers should be checking crops and making decisions about whether to apply pirmicarb to crops severely affected with black bean aphids. If incidence of the pest is low however, and you have an abundance of natural predators such as ladybirds, applying pirmicarb could be detrimental. Monitor the situation closely and get a good overall picture of your crop health before you apply.”
