Cabbage seed weevil causes pod damage at Warwick site
At our Syngenta Platform Site in Warwick, our oilseed rape (OSR) plots are showing signs of disease and pest pressure as the weather warms up.
The OSR pods are reaching full size, with seeds turning red. However, Sclerotinia is still visible in some untreated plots (pictured above).
There is also widespread pod damage caused by cabbage seed weevil laying eggs inside the pods. The pods split when the larvae break-out resulting in reduced yield.
It is not just the OSR plots under disease pressure, yellow rust is rife in our winter wheat plots. The untreated plots are showing the highest levels of yellow rust, with differences in coverage depending on the variety.
To find out more about these trials and their results, come along to our Warwick Platform Site Open Evening on Monday 2nd July. Talk to the experts on hand and find out how these trials could impact your own crop management. Book your place at https://www.syngenta.co.uk/events/events/warwick-innovation-centre-open-day-2018
