FAQs July/August 2018
Noticed that application of ACTELLIC 50EC to the fabric of the store is still on the CRD approval certificate, has the label changed again to allow this use?
Syngenta decided to remove application of ACTELLIC 50EC to the fabric of the store from the label because the use by hand-held equipment was removed and there is not applicator available for this use.
Can ACTELLIC SMOKES be used in a grain store that is destined for oilseed rape?
No, the label states only cereal grain.
Is it true AXIAL 100EC is being withdrawn?
Yes, but it will be replaced with AXIAL PRO 55EC, which has a built-in adjuvant (see Syngenta website: www.syngenta.co.uk). The registration for AXIAL 100EC expired on 30 June 2018, farmers have until 30 June 2019 to use the product up.
Due to the current severe drought conditions being experienced (no rain for several weeks), should 1.0 l/ha REGLONE still be applied to potato crops for desiccation that are under extreme stress?
Syngenta have taken the decision NOT to support the Warranty for 1.0 l/ha REGLONE if the SMART test has failed. However, if weather conditions change, then we will review this advice. Please revert back to the Reglone label.
What is the harvest interval for REGLONE in oilseed rape?
7-10 days – combining should commence when the seed is mature (black in colour) and the moisture content is ideally between 12-15%.
Can REGLONE still be used on oats? It is still on the authorisation certificate on the CRD website.
It is not illegal to use REGLONE on oats, but it is no longer on the label, therefore Syngenta cannot accept any liability if there was an issue and will not support this use.
Can REGLONE still be used on seed crops of barley under the EAMU, which are still available on the CRD website?
Syngenta have no control over EAMU’s, therefore the grower will need to contact CRD. If a seed crop of barley is treated with REGLONE and is rejected for that end market, the crop cannot go for the feed market and will have to be destroyed.
Is there a new seed treatment containing sedaxane for use in sugar beet?
Yes, VIBRANCE SB (containing sedaxane + fludioxonil + metalaxyl-m) has just been approved for use in sugar beet and fodder beet. More information available on the Syngenta website: www.syngenta.co.uk.
Why would I choose winter wheat treated with VIBRANCE DUO over a competitor seed treatment?
Excellent disease control, better establishment (quicker emergence enabling crop to get away) and improved rooting (enabling scavenging for nutrients).
What is the parentage of Shabras and Gleam winter wheats?
Shabras – Cassius x Hereford and Gleam – KWS Kielder x Hereford
