Now that APHOX has approval for one application in peas and beans, would it be possible to apply another pirimicarb-based product?

Syngenta would not support a further application of pirimicarb as this goes against the spirit of the law (not good agricultural practice).

Also, such pracitce is strongly discouraged. It could be seen as going against the legal requirement to take all reasonable precautions when using pesticides to protect people, animals and the environment. It is also possible that the repeated use of similar products could lead to the permitted maximum residues levels in the treated crop being exceeded. (This is taken directly from the CRD website).

With the demise of Dursban, will AUSTRAL PLUS have any effect on leatherjackets in cereals?

AUSTRAL PLUS has no effect on leatherjackets.

Winter wheat has failed due to water logging, it had DEFY in the autumn, what are the options with regards to following crops?

Without ploughing - spring oats, spring barley, spring wheat, peas, spring oilseed rape, sunflowers, maize, flax can be sown. With ploughing - all of the above + carrots, onions, sugar beet, potatoes, lettuce. DO NOT DRILL FIELD/BROAD BEANS.

Can MODDUS be applied pre-GS30 in winter wheat or winter barley - crops are very forward at the moment and may need an early PGR?

MODDUS cannot be applied until GS30 (T1). The label states: Apply MODDUS between the leaf sheath erect stage and the flag leaf fully emerged stage (GS30-39).

Field has been tested for PCN and has come back with a low count, can the rate of NEMATHORIN 10G be reduced?

Do not reduce the rate of NEMATHORIN 10G. Keep at 30 kg/ha. Lowering the rate will reduce the efficacy of the product.

Moving over to using NEMATHORIN because Vydate is not available this season. Can NEMATHORIN be used in-furrow for spraing control?

There is no longer a label recommendation for the use of NEMATHORIN in-furrow. NEMATHORIN can only be applied overall and incorporated at a rate of 30 kg/ha for reduction of spraing and control of PCN. The 15 kg/ha rate is for reduction of wireworm only.

Crops of oilseed rape are very forward, what is the earliest timing for the application of TOPREX for plant growth regulation?

For plant growth regulation, TOPREX can be used from early stem extensino to green bud to shorten the crop, reduce lodging and protect yield. Latest time for application is up to GS55.

HYVIDO hybrid barleys are looking extremely lush and forward, some having mildew, is there anything that needs to be done now?

If frosts occur in the next month or two, this should take out the mildew that is there. If the crops are looking yellow as well as forward, then feed them - little and often is better than say a 2 or 3 split of N. Adequate Nitrogen is needed for ear formation. Once the crops have reached GS30, then a robust PGR (MODDUS) would be beneficial for rooting.

A grower would like to enter into the HYVIDO Cashback Yield Guarantee, what is the latest date that he can apply?

Growers can apply up to the end of February 2016.
