ELATUS™ ERA - Winter Wheat Field Results 2017
The 2017 season gave a striking reminder of just how unpredictable our weather can be, how this can cause disease to increase unexpectedly, and the importance of having a fungicide strategy that, while flexible, is sufficiently resilient to cope. It was the first year that ELATUS™ ERA was available commercially, and, both in field trials and on farm situations, ELATUS™ ERA again provided powerful Septoria tritici and rust control across different varieties and disease pressures. By protecting the inside and outside of the leaf, ELATUS™ ERA delivers enhanced green leaf area and proven yield benefits.
Latest yield results in wheat
Independent and Syngenta yield trials in 2017 confirmed ELATUS™ ERA at T2 gave outstanding yields – with best results when used preventatively as part of a managed programme.
Looking at leaf scans from Oxford in late-June, it is clear that ELATUS™ ERA has provided more powerful protection against Septoria than alternative products, maintaining green leaf area of the top three leaves to protect yield potential.
Location: Oxford Innovation Centre. Variety: Gallant. T2: 10th May GS39. Leaf scans: 50 days after application; 29th June 2017.
epoxiconazole + fluxapyroxad 1.25 l/ha
bixafen + fluopyram + prothioconazole 1.2 l/ha
ELATUS™ ERA 0.8 l/ha
As well as being class-leading on yellow rust, ELATUS™ ERA also proved its efficacy against brown rust in 2017, when pressure was particularly high as a result of the hot, dry period in June. In an independent trial in Sussex, ELATUS™ ERA delivered a yield benefit of 0.5 t/ha over the next best alternative. Photographs taken on 26th June show the significant reduction in brown rust infection on flag leaves where ELATUS™ ERA was used compared to alternative products.
Location: Sussex. Variety: Crusoe. Date: 26th June 2017; 41 days after T2 applied.
Significant drought pressure at our Newark Innovation Centre in the 2017 season provided an ideal opportunity to observe visual effects in the field. Assessment on 21st June showed ELATUS™ ERA treated plants were generally holding on to green leaf area better, especially in KWS Kielder where yield was also improved.
Variety: KWS Kielder. Common T1: IZM/EPZ 0.8 l/ha + BRAVO 1.0 l/ha
