Given their complexity, biopharmaceuticals need to be synthesized by living organisms. Microbes or mammalian cell cultures have traditionally been used to produce them, but this system has some inherent limitations. Syngenta biopharma believes that biomanufacturing in plants can offer some unique advantages for production of some of these biopharmaceuticals. |
