| In 2005 Syngenta took over sponsorship of the Association of British Science Writers' (ABSW) Science Writers' Awards. The ABSW, which has a membership of over 800 science journalists, exists to improve the standard of science journalism in the UK, and to help those who write about or broadcast science and technology stories. Through briefings, visits, debates and social events, the ABSW helps to create links between science writers and their subjects, helping to further the development of excellence in science journalism and reporting. Further information on the ABSW can be found at www.absw.org.uk.
As a company committed to sound science communication around the world, Syngenta is delighted to be supporting the ABSW's Science Writers' Awards in the UK, which have done much to promote excellence in the field of science communication internationally.
The prizes, now known as the Syngenta ABSW Science Writers' Awards, have been running for more than 35 years, and are widely considered to be the most prestigious and best-known awards in science journalism. Judged by an independent panel, the awards are presented annually in London. For more information on the award winners visit http://sciencewritersawards.org.uk/
The awards reward the writers, broadcasters and producers who set the highest standards each year, and who have tackled important issues with bravery and flair. Syngenta's support means that the ABSW can continue to develop the awards to reflect the growing importance of accurate and innovative science journalism.
