With increasing concerns for the environment and for the role which farmers play in preserving our rural heritage, Syngenta technologists and researchers work in partnership with others to come up with new ways of providing sustainable agriculture. The farming community has always responded quickly and responsibly to society's needs, Syngenta plays its part by providing them with the research and resources that they need.

There is an abundance of exciting new technologies available to assist us in developing new active ingredients for crop protection products and producing new seeds varieties. From genomics to high throughput screening, from marker assisted breeding to biotechnology, Syngenta is at the forefront of new and existing technologies that will help provide for growers across the globe in the challenge of feeding, clothing and protecting an ever-expanding world population.

Throughout the research process, our scientists liaise closely with their commercial colleagues in other parts of the business worldwide, as well as with our customers. In addition, close co-operation with production and formulation staff is essential to ensure that our final product whether it be a seed, pesticide or beneficial insect is suitable to be used in a wide range of different farming systems across the world.

Our technology also results in new developments in the way products are used and delivered to the target. For example, our scientists are using innovative technologies such as microencapsulation to improve product effectiveness and safety.

Every year billions of pounds are spent on environmental sciences to ensure that our products meet the growers' demands and are as safe as possible. Our innovation in crop protection and seeds is matched by our desire to help the growers in an increasingly demanding marketplace.
