At Syngenta we take environmental matters seriously and as well as the work of our environmental sciences group based at Jealott's Hill and at Syngenta CTL who ensure that our products are extensively tested prior to launch, we are also involved with some major projects to support sustainable farming.
Over the past 30 years biodiversity on UK arable farms has fallen dramatically. The UK government is currently introducing a series of measures, including the UK Biodiversity Action Plan and agri-environment schemes, to help address this reduction in wildlife. In response to these initiatives, Syngenta is actively supporting several agri-environment projects, including the Buzz Project, Operation Bumble Bee, SOWAP and SAFFIE. These projects are helping farmers to increase biodiversity, encourage declining species and protect land from soil erosion.
In addition, our commercial farm at Jealott's Hill is constantly developing new ways to encourage wildlife and is a Linking Environment and Farming (LEAF) farm and is well recognised for its work on conservation.
